Every so often while dealing with change at work, I think about this ethereal concept of a "negative coin." A coin that somehow forcefully subtracts from your total amount, like a physical debt. So if you had a dollar and a negative-3-cent coin, you would end up with 97 cents, hard to make in change without using so many coins.
This idea came to me because obviously I dont love dealing with change. I love coins, I really do... but if someone gives me $2 to pay for something that cost $1.03, I would have to give them 97 cents... which is just too many coins! If only I had a negative coin to make it so much easier, right??
In my mind its like, some kind of sticky curse that you cant remove from the money once you subtract it. Banks would obviously sort that all out when you deposit it, so a dollar that's worth less would be added to your account as that amount, but the base dollar renewed into the bank as a whole dollar. um... that wouldnt cause any issues i think...? Make me the head of treasury
I also just think of a negative joker like balatro
Anyway... I think that's a good first blog post. Stay tuned for more genius ideas.
